Arguably the NFL’s greatest quarterback of all time gave some advice to this year’s talented rookie QB class this week.
Tom Brady sat down with Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis at a lunch run by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and rapper Travis Scott. His message: Where you get drafted only can take you so far.
“Going first overall, in the end, is not a big deal,” Brady said, gesturing to Young, who was picked first by the Panthers. “It’s great: You got an opportunity, you’re probably going to get paid more than anyone for a time period. But I was drafted No. 199 and I just outlasted everybody. There’s another me back there, so how do I keep my edge on everybody?”
Here’s the full video of Brady’s comments.
Brady’s comments likely rang particularly true with new Titans quarterback Will Levis, whose fall from a projected top-10 pick into the second round got plenty of attention on draft night. And given Brady’s meteoric rise from the sixth round to megastardom, it’s possible the true star of this year’s quarterback class wasn’t even at this lunch.
