Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers got into the end zone early in the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, and he was prepared with the perfect touchdown celebration.
After bagging a Christmas Day touchdown, the rookie receiver celebrated like The Grinch.
Flowers mimed kicking open a door and stealing Christmas presents from under a tree. He and tight end Isaiah Likely began stashing the gifts in an imaginary bag, as they effectively spoiled the holiday for 49ers fans at Levi’s Stadium.
After snatching their haul of gifts, Likely and Flowers put their bags over their shoulders and darted toward the Ravens’ sideline.
Flowers was wide open for his touchdown catch, and he helped extend Baltimore’s lead to 30–12.
It was a Christmas to forget for San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, whose fourth interception of the game led to the Flowers touchdown reception on the very next play.
Fans in Santa Clara were hoping to see the 49ers improve to 12–3 on the season and take sole possession of the NFL’s best record. Instead, the Ravens had a stranglehold on the game through three quarters, and Flowers’ Grinch-themed celebration was the cherry on top of their Christmas Day performance.
