Sky's Chennedy Carter Disses Caitlin Clark on Social Media After Fever Loss

Sky’s Chennedy Carter Disses Caitlin Clark on Social Media After Fever Loss

Chicago Sky's Chennedy Carter caught some flack from WNBA fans on Saturday after she issued a hard foul on Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

The foul was originally issued an away-from-ball foul, but it was later changed to a Flagrant 1 after a WNBA review. Carter refused to answer any questions about Clark in her post-game media session, so it's unclear what caused the incident.

Carter didn't keep her silence for too long regarding the situation, as she posted a comment about Clark on Threads on Sunday. The comment was clearly a dig at Clark, who was the No. 1 WNBA draft pick in April.

"Beside three point shooting what does she bring to the table man," Carter wrote.

There seems to be some tension on and off the court now between some of the players.

The foul itself sparked a frenzy on social media, with Fever coach Christie Sides even adding her thoughts on the "unacceptable" foul. She even posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, asking for something to be done about fouls like this.

C.T. Pan Unexpectedly Goes Through Four Caddies in 10 Holes at RBC Canadian Open

C.T. Pan Unexpectedly Goes Through Four Caddies in 10 Holes at RBC Canadian Open

C.T. Pan had an eventful final round at the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday, to say the least.

Pan's usual caddie, Mike "Fluff" Cowan, was on the bag for him during the entire tournament up until he fell on the third hole at Hamilton Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

Pan needed to think quickly about who to use as his caddie for the rest of the round. He ended up selecting a fan out of the crowd who sounded ready for the job.

That fan only caddied on the fourth hole (which Pan bogeyed) until Mike Campbell, a worker from caddy services at the course, stepped in to finish out the front nine.

After the ninth hole, Al Riddell, who is the caddy for Paul Barjon (he missed the cut), took over on the back nine for Pan. What a saga.

Riddell was apparently watching the ordeal unfold while at home, as Barjon wasn't playing the weekend, and he raced over to the course to help Pan out, according to Sportsnet's Adam Stanley. What a heroic move.

Pan finished one-under on the day, with a final score of three-under.

Yankees' Aaron Judge Wants to 'Put On a Show' for Friends, Family in San Francisco

Yankees’ Aaron Judge Wants to ‘Put On a Show’ for Friends, Family in San Francisco

Following Saturday's 7–3 win over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge acknowledged that the series against the team he grew up rooting for means a little bit more than any other.

Judge, a Linden, Cali. native, has now homered in each of the two games the Yankees have played against the Giants—and he has done so in front of countless friends and family members at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

After the game on Saturday, Judge was asked about what it's like to "come home" and get the chance to play in the ballpark where the team he grew up loving plays.

Judge acknowledged how much it means to him, saying that he wants to "do something special" for the friends and family who have showed up to support him.

"I have a lot of family in town, a lot of friends in town," Judge said. "You've got to do something special for them, I'm trying to stay locked in and put on a show for them."

And put on a show, Judge has.

The Yankees slugger, on the heels of a red-hot month of May that saw him post a 1.397 OPS in 28 games while breaking out of an April slump, has gone 4-for-7 with three home runs and six RBI in two games in San Francisco, including a 464-foot moonshot to left field on Saturday.

Judge, during his 2022 free agency bid, nearly ended up in a Giants uniform. Even though that didn't come to fruition, it's safe to say that the Yankees captain is making the most of his first opportunity to play in a ballpark that's very near and dear to his heart.

Angel Reese Earns WNBA Fine for Not Speaking to Media After Fever Game

Angel Reese Earns WNBA Fine for Not Speaking to Media After Fever Game

Saturday's Indiana Fever 71–70 win over the Chicago Sky caused quite a stir on and off the court.

Sky's Chennedy Carter fouled Fever star Caitlin Clark hard and was originally issued an away-from-ball foul, but it was later changed to a Flagrant 1 after WNBA review. After this hard foul, Sky rookie Angel Reese was seen applauding for her teammate. This on-court moment sparked some controversy on social media.

Reese did not speak to media after the game, and the league fined her $1,000 for failing to attend media sessions. Additionally, the Sky organization was find $5,000 for not making all players available for media.

Fever coach Christie Sides was not happy with the foul, and she even posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, asking for something to be done about fouls like this.

Clark and Reese's names have been intertwined since the two faced each other in the NCAA tournament final in 2023 when Reese's LSU Tigers beat Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes. The two emphasize constantly how there isn't beef between them, but this moment on Saturday caused a social media frenzy regarding the two star rookies, making fans question what the relationship is between them.

Yankees Announcer Said Giants Fans Were 'Lit', and His Partner Cracked Up Laughing

Yankees Announcer Said Giants Fans Were ‘Lit’, and His Partner Cracked Up Laughing

How would the average person describe a group of people having a good time? Depending on their generation, there could be a wide variety of answers, particularly if a member of Gen Z is describing the situation.

New York Yankees play-by-play commentator Michael Kay, who is 63 years old, opted to utilize a piece of lingo that has become popularized by Gen Z in an amusing moment during Saturday's broadcast of New York's 7–3 win over the San Francisco Giants.

When a boat transporting a bunch of dancing and excited-looking Giants fans passed by the bay outside Oracle Park during the bottom of the second inning, Kay didn't miss a beat, declaring that the "People are lit!"

Kay's partner and former Yankees outfielder Paul O'Neill, couldn't believe his ears—or contain his laughter—at the sound of the 63-year-old Kay using the word 'lit.'

"People are lit!" Kay exclaimed, as O'Neill burst into laughter.

"Excuse me, Michael?" O'Neill asked. "Can you explain that?"

"They're very happy," Kay replied.

Kudos to Kay and O'Neill for providing some comedic relief during the broadcast, although it might not have even been the funniest moment involving New York baseball broadcasters on Saturday.

Rangers Loss Continues Extremely Sad New York Sports Losing Record

Rangers Loss Continues Extremely Sad New York Sports Losing Record

New York sports just cannot catch a break.

The New York Rangers lost to the Florida Panthers on Saturday in the Eastern Conference finals, officially ending their shot at making the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. Just a couple weeks prior, the New York Knicks were eliminated from the NBA playoffs. At the beginning of May, the New York Islanders lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

And, the list goes on and on.

With the Rangers' recent elimination, this now marks 100 consecutive combined seasons in which a New York team hasn't won a sports championship in the top four major sports, according to the Associated Press' Josh Dubow. This includes the Rangers, Islanders, Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Yankees, Mets, Giants and Jets.

Make sure to give your condolences to the next New York fan you see.

The last championship to come from a New York team was in 2011 when the Giants won Super Bowl XLVI. Who will be the next?

Steelers 'to Get a Little Weird At Goal Line' With Justin Fields in 2024, per Report

Steelers ‘to Get a Little Weird At Goal Line’ With Justin Fields in 2024, per Report

Since Justin Fields is expected to play as backup quarterback to Russell Wilson in their first seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, there's been various reports about what other roles the former Chicago Bears starter could fulfill.

The latest report comes from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, as he states that some NFL teams are expecting the Steelers to use Fields on the goal line.

"I've talked to multiple teams now who expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to get a little weird at the goal line with Justin Fields, maybe have a package or two for him ready to go where he can be a runner or a thrower out of the shotgun," Fowler said during Sunday's SportsCenter.

Fowler added that this wouldn't be anything new for Arthur Smith, the team's new offensive coordinator. Smith used former Tenneesee Titans running back Derrick Henry similarly on the goal line when they were in Tenneesee.

"Remember, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, when he was with the Tennessee Titans, used Derrick Henry in that way as a runner and thrower out of the shotgun," Fowler said. "So, Fields with his quarterback background can certainly handle that."

Fields most recently shot down the idea that he was going to be used as one of the kickoff returners, a rumor that his teammate Jaylen Warren started.

Although Fields won't be the initial Steelers starting quarterback, he doesn't plan to sit on the bench all season, he said prior. Wilson even thinks Fields would "strike fear" in other teams if he were to be placed in a non-quarterback role.

Rangers' Peter Laviolette Had In-Game Interview Upstaged by Shirtless Panthers Fan

Rangers’ Peter Laviolette Had In-Game Interview Upstaged by Shirtless Panthers Fan

New York Rangers coach Peter Laviolette had his in-game interview with ESPN's Emily Kaplan upstaged by a shirtless Florida Panthers fan during his team's season-ending, 2–1 loss to Florida at Amerant Bank Arena on Saturday night.

While there likely weren't many things making him laugh on Saturday night, Laviolette couldn't help but chuckle as the young Panthers fan flexed his biceps in the background, making it nearly impossible for any viewers to focus on the interview.

"How about this guy behind us?" Laviolette said with a laugh.

"He likes the interview more than you do," Kaplan, perfectly playing off of the situation, replied.

Here's the funny moment, courtesy of Bleacher Report's account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Laviolette proceeded to conduct the interview, as the young Panthers fan continued to go full muscleman in the background.

Then, after the interview was finished, the Rangers coach bumped the glass in front of the young fan before walking back to the bench.

Unfortunately for Laviolette, the flexing fan was the one who went home happy, as the Panthers advanced to the Stanley Cup Final, where they will await the winner of the Dallas Stars-Edmonton Oilers conference finals series, which Edmonton currently leads 3-2.

Fever Coach Demands Action From WNBA for 'Unacceptable' Fouls on Caitlin Clark

Fever Coach Demands Action From WNBA for ‘Unacceptable’ Fouls on Caitlin Clark

Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides demanded action from the WNBA after rookie guard Caitlin Clark was fouled hard by Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter during the Fever's 71–70 victory over Chicago at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.

After the game, Sides took to X, formerly known as Twitter, sending a message directly to the league about the "unacceptable" fouls on Clark.

"This is unacceptable @WNBA," Sides wrote. "When will the consistent complaints be heard?!? Something has to be done!"

The foul occurred with 15.8 seconds left in the third quarter on a Fever inbounds play, moments after Carter sank a mid-range jump shot. Clark was preparing to receive the inbounds pass from Fever teammate Aliyah Boston when Carter, who had remained on that side of the court following her made shot, proceeded to shoulder check Clark to the ground.

Officials ruled Carter's move a common foul and the play was not reviewed.

At the end of the quarter, Clark, during a sideline interview, told ESPN that Carter's foul was "not a basketball play." Meanwhile, Sides, after joking that she was "trying not to get fined," told reporters that she has submitted plays involving Clark to the WNBA for review.

"We're just going to keep sending these possessions to the league, and these plays, and hopefully they'll start, you know, taking a better look at some of the things that we see happening, or we think is happening," Sides said.

"Just more happy that Caitlin handled it the way she did. You know, it's tough to keep getting hammered the way she does and to not get rewarded with free throws or foul calls. She's continued to fight through that. Appreciate that from her. Really, really proud of her for doing that."

The WNBA on Sunday upgraded Carter's foul on Clark to a Flagrant 1 after review, according to Alexa Philippou of ESPN. Clark and the Fever will next take on the New York Liberty on Sunday night.

Iga Swiatek Doesn't Drop a Game in Dominant 40-Minute French Open Fourth Round Win

Iga Swiatek Doesn’t Drop a Game in Dominant 40-Minute French Open Fourth Round Win

Iga Swiatek continues to dominate in her run to win a third consecutive French Open title as she crushed Anastasia Potapova 6–0, 6–0 in the fourth round on Sunday.

Swiatek didn't drop a single game in the match, which only lasted 40 minutes. This was the quickest match in Swiatek's career thus far. In fact, she only lost 10 points during the entire match. The games never went to deuce, and Potapova never forced a break point.

The World No. 1 was at a loss for words with her commanding performance on Sunday when she spoke after the match.

"I was just really focused and really in the zone," Swiatek said. "It went pretty quickly, pretty weird."

Ever since Swiatek turned 23 on Friday, she's been on a tear. She beat Marie Bouzková in straight sets in the third round, too. Swiatek's journey hasn't been fully a breeze, though, as her second round match vs. four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka went into a decisive third set.

Swiatek will face No. 5 Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinal on Tuesday, June 4. This is Swiatek's fifth consecutive quarterfinal at the French Open.
