Mariners Announcers Had Perfect One-Word Reactions to Awful Called Third Strike

The 2024 Major League Baseball season has featured way too many bad calls by umpires that have left players, managers and announcers in utter disbelief.

That happened again in the bottom of the seventh inning of Tuesday night’s White Sox–Mariners game when Seattle’s Ryan Bliss struck out looking on a 3-2 pitch that seemed to be well outside of the strike zone. Umpire Gabe Morales, however, didn’t hesitate in calling it a strike, which left the Mariners’ broadcast booth in shock.

These one-word reactions were pretty spot-on:

The Mariners went on to score two runs in that inning and won the game, 4-3, but fans weren’t happy with that call:

The league has a serious problem with the quality of their umpiring yet they fail to address the problem

Bliss didn’t see a single pitch in the strike zone in this AB yet still managed to get called out on strikes

Giancarlo Stanton Crushed by MLB Fans for Swinging at Laughably Bad Pitch

It's not often that you can turn on a Major League Baseball game and see a player do something that you could easily do. Baseball at the professional level is a very a hard sport and the majority of us would look silly if we ever got the chance to play in a game.

But thanks to a swing by New York Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton during Tuesday night's loss to the Baltimore Orioles, fans everywhere were able to feel a sense of commonality, as New York's designated hitter whiffed on a pitch that was nowhere near the strike zone.

Umpire Incorrectly Calls Pete Crow-Armstrong Safe Using His Helmet to Stay on Second

The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets played a day game at Citi Field on Thursday. In the top of the second inning, Cubs rookie Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a double to right field that scored Patrick Wisdom.

As Crow-Armstrong ran the base paths, his helmet started to fall off so he grabbed it before sliding into second. Then things got really weird. Crow-Armstrong tried to do a pop-up slide, but failed to pop. Instead, he slid over second and came off the bag as Joey Wendle caught the throw from Starling Marte.

In danger of getting tagged out, Crow-Armstrong used his helmet to touch second base and was called safe.

The amazing thing about baseball is that it's been around for 150 or so years and you still witness things that you have never seen before. Which is why the Mets' broadcast booth was legitimately confused about whether it was the right call or not.

Eventually, reporter Steve Gelbs confirmed with Major League Baseball that it was the wrong call and Crow-Armstrong should have been called out.

Crow-Armstrong, 22, might actually be trying out new material as a baseball prop comic during this series. During Wednesday's game, he got his bat caught in the protective netting and it just looked like it was levitating.

The Cubs return home to host the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday. Can't wait to see what Crow-Armstrong has in store for the fans.
