Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic to Miss Weeks With Knee Injury

Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic to Miss Weeks With Knee Injury

Christian Pulisic is facing another spell on the sidelines after Chelsea manager Graham Potter said the forward is set to miss weeks with a knee injury.

The U.S. men’s national team star was subbed off midway through the first half of Thursday’s 1–0 loss to Manchester City, appearing to suffer the injury after a challenge from City defender John Stones.

Chelsea then went on to face Man City on Sunday without Pulisic as the club was eliminated from the FA Cup with a 4–0 defeat. After the match, Potter confirmed the injury news.

“Christian just opened up his knee in the game the other day so we’re still analyzing it,” Potter said. “It’s going to be weeks, I would say.”

Chelsea also lost winger Raheem Sterling to injury in the opening minutes of Thursday’s defeat. The injury troubles have come at a tough time for the club, which has won only two of its last 10 games across all competitions.

Pulisic got off to a slow start to the season with a goal and assist across 16 league matches. He has made only six Premier League starts this season, although half have come in the last three matches.

The winger’s name has also appeared in the transfer rumor mill this month with Newcastle United and Manchester United linked to a loan move for Pulisic.
