David Moyes to Leave West Ham United After 2023/24 Season

David Moyes to Leave West Ham United After 2023/24 Season

Premier League club West Ham United announced May 6 that manager David Moyes will leave the club by mutual consent at the end of the season when his contract expires.

"On behalf of everyone at West Ham United, I would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to David for the contribution he has made to the Football Club during his time as manager," David Sullivan, Joint-Chairman at West Ham United, said in the announcement. “David has been responsible for a period of great progress and success in our history, and we are extremely grateful for all of his hard work, commitment and dedication to the role." David Moyes Says Farewell to West Ham United

"I have enjoyed four and a half brilliant years at West Ham, and the Club is in a stronger position than when I returned back in 2019. When I joined West Ham for a second time, the Club was one place above the relegation zone, and it has been a terrific journey to have achieved three consecutive seasons in Europe. After leading the Club to safety, we guided the team to finishes of 6th and 7th in the Premier League, and I was delighted when we won the Europa Conference League title last June – the Club’s first major trophy in 43 years. I would like to thank all the players for their support, and all the success they have achieved, over the last four and a half years," Moyes said in the announcement.

Moyes wrapped things up by thanking everyone at the club and wishing his successor, everyone at West Ham United and the fans all the best for the future.

West Ham United's league form over the past two years has dipped after two successive European qualifications. Not to mention, the Irons have missed Declan Rice in midfield since selling the English player to Arsenal last summer. West Ham United exited the Europa League in the quarter-finals losing out to Bundesliga champions Leverkusen 1-3 on aggregate.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Julen Lopetegui has agreed to terms to become West Ham's next manager. The Spaniard last managed Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. Lopetegui won the Europa League with Sevilla in the 2019-20 season.

Moyes' final home game is May 11 against Luton Town. His farewell will be May 19 away to Manchester City where Arsenal fans hope Mikel Arteta's former manager from his playing days at Everton helps the club win the Premier League.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United: Preview, How to Watch on TV and Prediction

For some Manchester United fans, the end of the Premier League season can't come quick enough.

Erik ten Hag's side are not going to be competing in next season's Champions League because of a real lack of consistency, and it feels like a real turnover in personnel is needed to deliver the change the Dutchman has continually called for.

First though, there's the small matter of beating in-form Crystal Palace, who picked up results just when they needed them to pull away from the relegation zone.

In Jean-Philippe Mateta, Palace have one of the Premier League's sharpest shooters of late, and you can rarely take your eyes of the talented duo of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze - both players who have taken the interest of United's scouting department.

What could follow is a fun Monday night encounter in south London.

Crystal Palace team news

Palace should be able to call on Eze and center-back Marc Guehi, another United transfer target who has been out injured for the best part of two months.

There's no such luck for Cheick Doucoure. Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding and Matheus Franca though, with the quartet in no condition to take part at Selhurst Park.

The impressive Adam Wharton should continue in central midfield, providing the energy and spark for the talented trio ahead of him to do their thing against a United defence who like to ensure their goalkeeper Andre Onana has plenty to do.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup: Henderson; Munoz, Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Wharton, Hughes; Olise, Mateta, Eze.

Man Utd team news

Ten Hag pointed to United's terrible injury record in a recent interview, when asked why he's not been able to deliver the same level of resullst achieved in his first season in charge.

The casualty room is as full as ever heading into the final few games, with the list of unavailable defenders pretty staggering. Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Willy Kambwala are all out, with veteran Jonny Evans also not in great shape.

Further forward there's likely to be no Marcus Rashford, while doubts remain over how just fit midfield duo Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay are.

Man Utd predicted lineup: Onana; Dalot, Evans, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.

Crystal Palace vs Man Utd prediction

There's rarely a dull moment watching Manchester United and it should be a pretty even game that's contested on Monday night.

Palace have stepped up their game to move away from danger and are playing far more freely under the management of Oliver Glasner. They will fancy their chances of raining shots down on Onana's goal, putting the Cameroonian further in the spotlight.

United can be sharp at the other end when they want to be, and with a fifth-place finish still possible because of Tottenham's recent poor form, they should have enough in the tank to reply and take home at least a point.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Man Utd

Liverpool vs Tottenham: Preview, How to Watch on TV and Prediction

Liverpool hosts Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in Jurgen Klopp's second-to-last game at home as manager.

The season that was meant to have a fairytale ending has been derailed after Liverpool lost crucial games in the Premier League title race and exited the Europa League against Atalanta. The Reds have secured a Champions League place with three games remaining, but there's still a bittersweet feeling around Anfield.

Tottenham, on the other hand, must feel like a massive opportunity has faded away after dropping three consecutive games to Newcastle United, Arsenal and Chelsea. Now needing some help from Aston Villa, Europa League looks likely for Ange Postecoglu in his first season.

The reverse fixture between the two was embroiled in controversy, so there's still a feeling of a score to settle within the Liverpool squad.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

Liverpool team news

Klopp issued an update on key players' fitness levels ahead of the clash. "Virgl wasn't the whole week yet, probably part of parts of team training today. So we have to see what we can do there." Diogo Jota has not rejoined the group, but Conor Bradley was involved so keep an eye on the team announcement to see if the youngster steps in to the backline. Van Dijk will be a major miss against a Tottenham squad who can't afford to drop any more points if the Champions League is still a goal.

Tottenham Hotspur team news

Spurs have a list of absentees: Ben Davies, Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie, Manor Solomon, Fraser Forster and Ryan Sessegnon remain unavailable for Spurs. One player to note is James Maddison who started on the bench after the North London Derby loss. He came on as a substitute against Chelsea, so it'll be interesting to see if Postecoglu puts him back in the starting lineup.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction

It's going to be an emotionally charged game. Tottenham is feeling the effects of Champions League qualification all but gone, and Liverpool want revenge for the loss earlier in the season. Not to mention, this is Klopp's second-to-last home game in charge of Liverpool. Nothing else needs to be said about how difficult going to Anfield is regardless.

Liverpool will be up for the game and Tottenham will be too demoralized after the last three losses.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal vs Bournemonth: Preview, Prediction, How to Watch on TV

Arsenal hosts Bournemouth at Emirates Stadium with the Gunners looking to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal vs. Bournemouth was one of the best games of last season. The Cherries jumped out to an early two-goal lead, but Arsenal showed determination and grit to pull off a sensational comeback thanks to a 97th minute winner from Reiss Nelson. Fans though that was the win to catapult the Gunners to a title last year, but now they hope the win just puts added pressure on Manchester City.

Arsenal currently lead Manchester City by one point atop the table, but City has a game in hand. If Manchester City wins its remaining matches, Pep Guardiola will capture an unprecedented, fourth-straight Premier League title.

Bournemouth on the other hand are riding high with manager Andoni Iraola. The Spanish manager has helped Bournemouth achieve its highest Premier League points tally ever. Finishing in the top half of the table would give the club a major platform to build on for next season.

Arsenal team news

Arsenal is expected to welcome Jurrien Timber back to the first team squad. Though, expect the Netherlands defender to be on the bench. After suffering an ACL injury in the beginning of the season, Timber played 60 minutes against Liverpool in an under-21s match.

Bournemouth team news

Bournemouth will have Antoine Semenyo and Illia Zabarnyi fit and ready for the match, though Luis Sinisterra and Marcus Tavernier are battling hamstring issues. Milos Kerkez is suspended after receiving a straight red card against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Notably for USMNT fans, Tyler Adams is still out with a back injury.

Arsenal vs Bournemouth prediction

Arsenal has shown an improved mentality this season after the heartbreak of last. If there was to be a slip up, many expected it to come in the two London derbies against Chelsea and Tottenham. Since the loss to Aston Villa, Arsenal has scored 10 goals and conceded just two. The Gunners need help along the way if they are to win the Premier League this season, but they also need to take care of business in their final three games.

Bournemouth has never won at Emirates Stadium, though this is a different team under Iraola at this point in the season. The team has certainly improved since losing 4-0 in the reverse fixture. However, Arsenal show no signs of slowing down and every game from here on out is vital.

Score prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Bournemouth

Newcastle's Sandro Tonali Hit With New Suspended Ban for Betting

Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali Hit With New Suspended Ban for Betting

Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali was handed a new suspended two-month ban from football on Thursday for further breaches of the Football Association's betting rules.

The Italian is already serving a 10-month ban handed down by the Italian Football Federation last October after betting on football matches when he was playing for Serie A giants AC Milan.

Tonali could have been banned for up to three years, but he admitted his guilt and co-operated with investigations to help reduce the severity of his punishment.

The 23-year-old joined Newcastle in a deal worth an estimated €70m last July, making him the most expensive Italian footballer of all time. But he played just 12 games in all competitions for the club before it was announced he was being investigated for illegal betting activity.

"Provided that he does not commit any further breach of the FA Betting Rules during the suspension period, Sandro will not serve any part of the two-month sanction," Newcastle announced in a club statement.

"As acknowledged by the FA in the independent Regulatory Commission's written reasons, the level of assistance Sandro has provided by self-referring and fully cooperating with a subsequent investigation is extraordinary and unprecedented.

"Sandro made full admissions as to his betting activity, and did so in circumstances where there was no other evidence to support misconduct proceedings.

"Sandro is continuing to follow a therapeutic plan and educational programme with the club's full support and will continue to train with his teammates."

Tonali will be free to return to action on August 27, providing he doesn't commit any further betting offences, and consequently will play no part in Italy's Euro 2024 campaign this summer.

Man Utd Hoping to Sell Mason Greenwood on Permanent Deal - Reports

Man Utd Hoping to Sell Mason Greenwood on Permanent Deal – Reports

Manchester United want to permanently sell Mason Greenwood this summer but a return to the club has not been ruled out, reports claim.

The 22-year-old was sent out on loan to La Liga outfit Getafe last summer, with his United career all but over after he was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault in 2022. The charges were later dropped after the withdrawal of witnesses and new evidence coming to light meant there was "no longer a realistic prospect of conviction."

Greenwood has registered 16 goal contributions in 31 appearances for Getafe this season - ten goals and six assists - and has attracted interest from some of Europe's top teams.

The Times report that Juventus are among those eyeing a potential move for Greenwood, who United valued at between £30m and £40m last summer, at a time when he had been sidelined for the best part of 20 months.

It's reported that United will look to facilitate a permanent exit for Greenwood this summer, although it remains to be seen whether Juventus, or any other interested parties, are prepared to stump up a transfer fee that Getafe will almost certainly not be able to afford.

One that United will not do, ESPN state, is accept a reduced fee for Greenwood, making a return to Old Trafford a distinct possibility. The forward has one year remaining on his current contract, with the option to an extend by a further year.
