The Jets have ruled Mike White out for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins and will start Joe Flacco, while Zach Wilson will serve as the backup quarterback, head coach Robert Saleh confirmed on Friday.
White is dealing with a rib injury, seemingly the same one that kept him out of two games in December. He returned for last week’s game against the Seahawks, but struggled and was clearly limited as the Jets lost in Seattle.
Flacco making the start means that these three quarterbacks will each have started at least four games for the team this year. The veteran started the first three games of the season, going 1–2 and throwing for 901 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions in that span.
It is also notable that Flacco is starting over Wilson, considering Wilson’s standing with the team is reportedly in doubt. As a result, New York is likely to finish the season without a quarterback reaching 10 touchdown passes for the third straight season.
